does ernie b have these in stock? I could not find any new studio 1 releases for the past few days, but if these are as good as reported, I want at least a few of them

Jah Bill, Ernie B's haven't stocked any of these studio one represses. I emailed them in April last year to see when they'll be getting them in and was told "in a few weeks" but I take it they really meant "soon come". I've bought some from dub vendor, although other stores have been stocking them as well.

As a bit of background - studio one are about two years into a repress program. Some of the represses, particularly the early ones, were reported to have original labels but at least a couple of these suspiciously used modern fonts. In any case all of these are repressed using original stampers, and include many that were practically impossible to get hold of beforehand.

Using the original stampers there is some variable sound quality - but i'm very happy with the ones I've picked up. I can only suggest listening to sound samples beforehand to gauge whether the quality will prevent you from enjoying them. The titles listed earlier in the thread by Natty Matti, dan i dubdub and myself are mostly part of this program. The titles listed by Dub Specialist are a broader list of studio one releases that he has enjoyed.

The OCD in me wants to compile a list of all the titles repressed over the last couple of years - does anyone else have a list?

Along with the dub store japan reissues it's been a pretty good time to pick up studio one over the last 18 months!

There's a list from october, 2013 :
http://www.dancecrasher.co.uk/2013/seve ... tudio-one/

I think the first two (not listed) were (circa august 2012) :
Al Campbell - Don't Run Away / Jackie Mittoo - Take 10 - Supreme
Jackie Mittoo - El Bang Bang / Basil Gabbindon - I Need Your Loving - Supreme

from the list on dancecrasher page i would suggest the following (but i dont know how is quality of the press, just talking about music):

Anthony (Rocky) Ellis – Double Minded Man/Sound Dimension – Double Minded Version (May. On the classic Studio One label)
Dynamic Four – Let’s Make Love/Version (May. On a copy Faze Four label)
Freddie McKay – Freeman/Delroy Williams – Let Them Say (June. On a copy Iron Side label)
The Hi Teens – Hey You/Brentford Road All Stars – Part 2 (May. On the classic design Studio One label, yellow label black print)
Hugh Godfrey – Mad World/You’re My Baby (Sept. On the classic Coxsone label design)
Jackie Mittoo – Never Never/Version (Sept. Copy of the Studio One banner type label black print on yellow label)
Joe Higgs – Dinah/Peter Austin & The Freedom Singers – Have Faith (Sept. On the classic design Studio One label black ink on pink)
Larry Marshall – I`ve Got To Make It/Jackie Mittoo – Holy Version (May)
Lloyd Forrest – Where It’s At/Version (May – On a copy of the Bongo Man label, black print on white)

hi-teens 'hey you' and jackie mittoo 'never never' are some of the most ever underrated s1 productions.

I guess ernie is too busy with 180 gram dead stock US rock reissues and the likes of bobby beausoleil or whatever to stock good studio one 7"s.

aargh.

considering many of the ones reaching new york are coming back direct via tony downbeat through people traveling to JA such as carter van pelt, I'd venture the issue has more to do with distribution than ernie b choosing not to stock them in favor of 180g vinyl...

not if dub vendor has them. I get the feeling ernie wants to drop low volume low profit pieces like 7" singles. just a feeling.

Delroy Williams - Let Them Say

Quite like this tune, would love to of heard a studio one LP of early delroy williams .
You can really hear the subtle but high quality tones in his voice.

By the way, it seems no new reissue appeared for some time, it is some kind of pause or already the end of it ?... I wonder...

I hope you are wrong jb. I am not a customer of Ernie B, being on the other side of the big sea water, but dropping 7"s would be an enormous mistake and surely Ernie will realise this. Sounds like he missed the boat with the Studio Ones.

the only kind of disappointing one that i got was "god i god i say", plays pretty noisy, but i still enjoy it. also they pressed the version and the vocal on two separate reissues...anyway, some of the best ones like "love & understanding" and "i'm a free man" came with original label stock and play crisp as new. can't ask for anything better than that, it's identical to the original!!!

RB - which release has the God I Version on it? I know the original was on the flip of a rockfort rock instrumental in the 70's, but I didn't know this had been reissued. Or has it?

Nicholas - thanks for the links to those lists, that's a whole bunch to get through. On a related note I think you are right about there not being any represses for a while. Checking my emails the last list from Phil Etgart with any of these represses was back in June. I'm grateful for an opportunity to take a breath but I hope they haven't finished just yet!

JB - Ernie B's has been stocking a lot of the dub store japan and dkr 7"s - I don't imagine he wants to be completely out of that business just yet. But now I think about it there are a lot of 7"s he doesn't stock - It's just made me spread my purchase money around a bit more.
