OT: Kool Keith Story (Ultramagnetic MC's)

Postby capullo » Wed Aug 13, 2014 6:38 pm

not about reggae music in particular BUT even if you don't like rap music - i'm referring to the original art form born in new york city in direct connection to jamaican sound system culture though - it's well worth taking the time and listen to kool keith in this interview. what he is talking about applies to the music industry or put it to the life of an artist dedicated to music in general. kool keith - original don dada 8)

sunnyblubbleberry, haha. it's actually the only interview i ever saw of kool keith. i am impressed by this. although he's one of the greatest rapper ever - not necessary technically but in terms of lyrical madness, always many steps ahead of time - he seems quite grounded and humble when talking about himself. thanks for the mix. nice one!

Always been a big fan of Kool Keith. The first album I got from him was the Dr. Octagonecologyst and after that I started checking out his earlier stuff with Ultramagnetic MC's. This was in '96 or so when I must have been 12 or 13. I remember reading some of his lyrics and understanding absolutely nothing. But there was something interesting about his lyrical style. I used to think it was very similar to the Divine Styler (which also left me utterly confused). Those were the days!

Other than that I do also recall him being a dirty dirty man... Will check the interview later.

Thanks for posting this. Kool Keith is my favorite MC of all time. Always cool to see interviews even if the man is not the smoothest when it comes to expressing himself in that format. Any fan knows that he doesn't have any issues with a mic in his hand! Pure genius! And can never be rated high enough!
