Jah Lloyd aka Jah Lion aka Patrick Francis - (DJ/Singer/Producer) 1950 - 2 Jun 1999 shot Kingston Ja.

according to wikipedia:

Francis died of complications associated with Bronchial Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease on 5 June 1999

not that i believe wikipedia is the holy truth but one of the two is wrong.

Thanks for your help guys.

Dub Specialist - I can find no record that Joe Mansano is dead, do you have anymore info? Louisa Marks has been added.

Jah Vaults - to much work maybe at a later date, Re: Mikey Simpson - I don't know that's the only date I have found.

dj745 - yes that is the date I have too.

SteveT - Have added Capt B, Judge & Joel but who is Ezz Reco & what is he? eg a singer /DJ /producer? I have never heard of him.

Grubby mits - added those thanks.

lankou - not sure about adding Ari :? have added Scooby, Sonia p, grace nelson - was she a singer? Dodd is under Coxsone.

Capullo - yeah I heard he died of illness too but someone said they were positive he was shot. I remember the detail that he was living in an abandoned chicken coop when he died which is so sad.

once again thanks for your help.

Yes, Grace Nelson was a singer. She recorded songs (several 7"s + 1 LP) that had committed lyrics right before it became really trendy again. I remember seeing some of them reviewed favourably in Echoes. They have stood the test of time rather well.
As for Ari, well, maybe she wasn't the typical reggae artist but there is more to her than what she did with The Slits. She recorded reggae and dancehall in NYC and JA, lived in JA for a long time, got a child there, was a tv host AND a dancehall queen as Medusa. That's rather more credentials than what many could show, isn't it?
It's Scooby Santino, not Santini!
Besides, there is an error with Jim Kelly. It's the gangster don nicknamed JK who is dead. The DJ with the same alias - who then changed it for obvious reasons - is very much alive!
2 more additions:
Baby Wayne (DJ - 10/29/2005 - pneumonia)
Trevor Sparks (dancehall singer -Jammy protegee- 3/23/2005 - heart attack?)

Some other errors:
Mikey Simpson certainly didn't die in 1994. The last 7"s on his label turned up in 1998.
Norris Reid is definitely not dead: he has just recorded a brand new album in france and done a few dates there and one in italy in july!

That is a sombre list.
The list is important though, many times i hear about who pass away,
simply by checking out this site, a lot of artists / producers don't get a mention in traditional news reports.

Good work guys, it makes for sad reading,
Important reading though, remembering those that shared & gave musical joy to peoples lives.

Jim Kelly who died was the deejay on Killamanjaro and was shot in 1983. It was witnessed by his younger brother Junior Kelly who then had to go into witness protection.

Jim Nastic, who recorded the album Chaunting for Studio One, is still alive but was previously known as Jim Brown (the same name as the JLP don who died)

Ezz Reco did a few ska tunes in the early sixties including a version of Jimmy Cliffs King of Kings.

I remember reading an article about him in Mojo and when they had finally found his whereabouts he had recently died.

Spot on for Jim Brown / Jim Nastic, both took their name from the black American football player / actor. (probably popular in JA for his faturings in westerns).

Tony Rich died on 5th June 2012 of organ failure.

Steve Collins was an deejay who was about 17 when he died in 1981

Also an obscure on is Charles Keymist the original bass player for the Cool Notes who died in the early eighties.

Mickey Simpson was killed in the very end of 1993 (or beginning of 1994) in Ocho Rios. It was related to an argument for a fridge that he was either buying or selling... I do remember this well, as it was just few months after Pan Head got killed too, and i had just heard and got into mickey simpson tunes like dont cry and ole pan sound at that time...

So the tune that came out in 1998 that Lankou mentioned must have been released after he died..
