Diggers' find of a lifetime

Postby Ras Berry » Wed Jun 18, 2014 7:19 pm

Soul, unfortunately, but still an impressive find. A UK London stock copy of Darrell Banks' "Open The Door To Your Heart", bought from the estate of a deceased Decca pressing plant employee. I'm not a soul collector so whether there was speculation as to whether this was even thought to exist previously I'm not sure. The buyer has apparently already turned down an offer of £10,000 for it!

Here's the original Soul Source thread:

and a more concise one from Very Good Plus:

Had me wondering what the reggae equivalent of this might be, if there is one?

Any thoughts from the panel?

Never understood why someone would pay $10 more, let alone $15,000, just for a different label. Unless I'm misunderstanding, original copies of this record are easily available on several other labels?
