Young deejay on hiphop reggae song

Postby kalcidis » Thu Jun 12, 2014 6:13 am

Trying to remember a song that must have been released some time in the mid 90's. I remember seeing it on MTV as a kid thinking it was cool but not liking the patois (from the time when hip hop was my thing and reggae was boring stuff older people listened to ). It's a song about a kid getting punaany... He's 12 or something and it's on a typical east coast production of that era but with a young JA-merican youth chatting slack.

Anyone?

It was such a wicked period when hip hop and reggae mixed in the late 80's and the 90's.

Spot on! But I remembered the beat entirely wrong. Which is odd since I was quite into Doug E. Fresh at that age. Should have remembered him at least. I wonder what happened of Vicious. Googled him now and apparently »Freaks« was sampled by Nikki Minaj (paired with a sample of Bam Bam) last year.

Anyway. Thanks for the info!
