So far i have only really heard one keety roots song that i really like
& that was from a few years back.
Don't even know if he produced it, the track is laid back & very basic,
the production is nothing special.
The vocal is stand out though, very soulful & effective, the track in question is 'Simple Man"
The chorus is outstanding.
"I' d rather be a simple man
Than be a slave for money "
The one thing keety has over other producers is that he can also sing.
Never really heard another track stand up to that one.
The playing field is equal in the UK,
Several producers / riddim builders are capable
& very competent in making decent sounding steppa tracks
& sometimes those tracks are outstanding, most of the time just plain ordinary though .
The guys over at tuff scout have a lot of potential as they create a mixture of sounds
so i keep an eye on their stuff,
again it can be bland , when it's good though it's good .
Also like to checkout Dubkasm & see what their up to,they have a lot of potential indeed .
Then you can't count out all those dub producers from the 90's,
they are still capable of making decent music.
Don't forget about the legends from way back, some of them still record, so perhaps in the future they might surprise people with some interesting new works.
It's never just been about listening to commercial releases , for many years i have listened to "bedroom producers" & many times their material never get's released, yet over time i have heard several good tracks from various people.
