garrard deck - upgrades

Postby ScrollZ » Thu Oct 24, 2013 2:22 pm

i've found (but not purchased) an Garrard R.C 80 turntable... basically its a mess (its from 1950's??).

what upgrades can you do to these ? tonearms? headshell? im a bit reluctant to drop the original tone arm on any of my vinyl..
are there many spares?

are the RC 80's as good as the 3's or the 4's? am i wasting time and money restoring a R.C 80?

Garrards are mythical tt's, and there are a number of restoration specialists who do a wonderful job of repairing or totally pimping the turntables and making them sound much better than modern TT's. Google Garrard restoration and you'll find plenty. There is even a couple of forums dedicated to these, to the Lenco and to the Thorens brands. You'll be hypnotized by these discussions, believe me.
