Ijahman Are we a warrior question

Postby guillaumebougard » Fri Sep 20, 2013 1:54 pm

I saw on Amazon that Ijahman's Are We A Warrior album is being sold with a logo on the cover that says "original 1978 mixes"

Does anyone know how different it is from the "regular" Are we a warrior???

Don't know about the cds but if you want different mix try to get the Jahmani LP (don't know if it was released on CD). It sounds really different from the "regular" Island / Mango CD/LP release

IMO it means that CD has the island mix.

Jahmani LP came out in 1985. Some songs of the Jahmani LP sound quite different...I prefer the Island LP.

I would agree with truthtown, probably the island mixes.

these two albums, this one and haile I hymn, are both kind of puzzles to me. seems to me, from memory anyway, that at one time cds were available of these on ijahmani label with further extended tracks and even the tracks that were on the island version were different from the ones on the ijahmani releases. I don't have these cds at hand but I am pretty sure that's what I recall. then the ijahmani cd releases I later saw mirrored the island releases at least in track list if not mix. never did sit down and figure out what was what but honestly these never really did much for me except maybe one or two tracks per release. too quiet and subdued for a rocker like me I guess.

These are LP mixes Roman, from IJahman's LP and from the magnificent 'Raiders Of The Lost Dub' LP. Maybe you meant another link?

The mixes on the original ISLAND Haile I Hymn (Chapter 1) LP are totally different from the ones on the ISLAND Haile I Hymn (Chapter 1) CD... Strange but true. There's also an LP on Tree Roots (or on Jahmani - I don't remember now) entitled Haile I Hymn (Chapter 2) - which was released in 1988 and I don't really know what it sounds like.
