I don't think Island Records would have been too happy with "Survival " I guess they would have preferred another "Exodus" or "Kaya" type of album where the singles could reach a bigger market & record labels in the past were suspicious of concept albums.
I imagine Bob & the Wailers must have been proud of 'Survival'
I think it's an amazing piece of work, it sounds so much unlike any other reggae recorded in JA or anywhere else for that matter.
Tuff Gong studio sounded incredible, the recorded instrumentation is pretty impressive, the synth sounds in particular are the best i have heard in reggae, Bob was at the top of his game & so was everyone involved in the album making.
A creative masterpiece , so for those interested when you get some free time, kick back relax , put some vinyl on the deck , wipe off that cd, find your mp3 player, chill & listen.
It does sound incredible, listening with headphones.
Whatever your listening pleasure, enjoy the experience.
