Quoted from Gita Patel – DUBCENTRAL Sheffield
“This was a legendary soundclash between Goverment & Operation Soundsysem on Saturday 18th May 2013 in Preston.
Operation Soundsystem selection of Dubs & Roots was the best music played out of the two sounds. All of Operations exclusive dubs shattered the room with no doubts. The appreciation for Operations dubs and riddims were shown by the crowd, and everyone at the dance surged forward to the control tower when Operation played with enough vibes. The crowd chanted Operation, and danced as true steppa for Operation, the space was empty when Goverment played, and I hear no one chanting Goverments name. Goverment you had a few heads standing united, but no-one else from the crowd present came to join you in the dance in your corner.

Operation won the battle of ‘Dub fi Dub’ with their exclusive selections. Goverment you played the last tune in the dance as we had run out of time, do you remember what happened? The people put their coats on and left the room. Your last selection Goverment you said “this was still a war”, but it had already been won!”
For all of you who could not attend, this was a legendary event and will not be forgotten. Please watch out for the video to come soon and you can see for yourselves what happened."

I saw the flyer for this & would liked to have attended but due to a prior commitment I could not.
Listening to the youtube clips & talking to people it seems I missed out. I hear from man in London, Birmingham & Preston how Gorernment run up his mouth talking about killing Operation Sound & ANY other sound who try test them, only to take a beating themselves lol
I am very keen to see the DVD after all the talk.

i am happy to see this clash from the roots scene. clash and roots are not mutually exclusive. clash doesn't have to be unholy or offensive. it can be professional. it's all in how the sounds conduct themselves. respect to the sounds for putting themselves out there. this adds some excitement to an otherwise fairly homogeneous scene.

Yes roots sound clash can be a good thing IF both sounds are respectful, no place for slackness in roots scene imo
