I think Macka B is underrated considering his overall contribution to UK reggae and given that he is probably the most inventive and sophisticated lyricist in the music.

Chalice was a Third World wannabe in a way
The were badass live and their albums contain great tunes, but also dreadful tacky stuff. Ideally, one should keep about 30% of their songs from each of their album and make a superb collection/playlist/mixtape.

Yes Roman.

I have the repress somewhere. Probably in the loft where most of my collection has been banished to.

Glasses: I have the repress 2. My piece of vinyl doesn't sound perfect (probably just like most of the Freedom Sounds represses) but the sound quality is still kinda acceptable to me. The dub version was releeased on "Freedom Sounds In Dub" (one of my favorite King Tubby's compilation albums) but the vox cut was never re-issued on cd. For some reasons it wasn't icluded on the "Only Love Can Conquer" BAF CD/LP.

Not a top 10, but here goes a few of my picks..

Knowledge. Might be an aquired taste but I rank "Hail dread" among my top five, "Stumbling Block" is all killer too.

Bim Sherman. I guess he is fairly known in the UK, but I would still consider him underrated.

Lloyd Parks. Seems to be regarded mostly as a bass player while he has one of the top voices in Jamaica.

Jah Mali. Personal fav with a uniqueness in his voice not heard since Garnett and DEB. (I know not many would agree, my very personal opinion)

Well, not in my house!
He is an amazing bass player, guitarist, singer and arranger.

I don't think he is underrated, more like most people couldn't care less which musicians played on the records they rate so much. Reggae collectors and selectors never cared to much about that in general (is all about labels, rarity of pressings and producers / financers )....this is not Jazz!

true inyaki. but to me reggae musicians are very much like jazz musicians. especially the "old" ones. when rock musicians tried to play reggae they often lacked that jazz feel to play the instruments.

Jazz musicians, even obscure sidemen, are idolized by Jazz fans.
Reggae musicians are ignore by Reggae fans. Nobody cares who played what ....is all about the sound of the record.
That was my point.
So...ALL Reggae musicians are underrated as such (unless their names appear on the covers or labels )
