Andy Bassford interview (Boxing riddim)

Postby Cold Sweat » Sat May 11, 2013 10:55 am

Cornell Campbell's "Boxing Around" spawned many versions after it hit big in the charts and 'Boxing' soon became a stalward 80's dancehall riddim. Unknown to many a fan, though, the riddim relied heavily on the input of a "Connecticut Yankee." Andy Bassford explains over at Pressure Beat.

Andy is a mine of info. Great man and great musician.

I just posted on B&F that I always thought, for many years, that Boxing is based on the Solomon riddim......very similar, just swapping picking and bass parts, but slightly different.
