Ticklah- General remixes

Postby jps » Wed Mar 06, 2013 1:34 am

These have been out for a while but I been listening to them a lot lately. I'm a big Jahdan fan, and it's such a tuff riddim. The flip side is wicked too.

Not too familiar with Ticklah, but these are some wicked tracks. Can anyone recommend anything from him that's on this level?

Sugar Minott business -= Boom tune.

I think there was a thread about Ticklah not that long ago. He definitely had a major hand in this Roots Combination album, including this cut from Sluggy Ranks:

One i really rate is the Sharon Jones 7" 'How Long Do I Have To Wait For You/Ticklah - Version on the Daptone label. Also his stuff with Rob Symeon is great.

I picked up the Sharon Jones 7 for my wife and was surprised by the nice remix on the flip! Well worth getting.

That Sharon Jones remix by Ticklah is hot. He has an incredible talent for vintage-sounding production. The Rob Symeonn tune 'Chosen One' is another good Ticklah production. He is interviewed in the 'Dub Echoes' DVD and also demonstrates some live dub mixing.

Don't know if anyone posted this yet, but Ticklah 'Two Face' is great, the Black Ark vibe & 'Ethio' style melodies...

I first heard it played by a 'robo dj/ itunes' in the distance at a bar & I thought I was hearing some unknown (to me) unearthed rare Black Ark gem...... (!)

i was just today listening to a judah tafari eskender 7" remix by ticklah, land of confusion on liondub label. first time i had heard it, unsure when it came out as it could have been in my "unlistened to" pile for awhile.

His most recent release is an excellent Courtney John track "Born To Fly" pressed on LionDub in New York.

He has had his hand in a lot more work that people realize, was a long time member of Antibalas, and won a Grammy for his work on Amy Winehouse's Back to Black album. He has done a fair amount of work with Mark Ronson.

He was one of the last people to record Sugar Minott before he died. One single is released and at least one more is unreleased.
