Must have been 1976 or 1977. First reggae 12" was The Jayes on Hitbound in 1976. Don't know what it was but I bet it was licensed from Channel One.

There were several contenders I remember `Talk About Love'/`First The Girl' by Pat Kelly and Dillinger on a UK pressed Terminal label. But it could be like the first reggae record with many claiming to be first :!:

I think "Talk About Love" is referred to as being the first discomix in the sleevenotes to Pressure Sounds' "Phil Pratt Thing".

From http://www.savagejaw.co.uk/trojan/tjetd084.htm

The first reggae record ever put out in twelve-inch format is arguably 'Truly by The Jayes, through Channel One. The studio had dabbled with EP's when they released the seven-inch 'Economic Package'. These smaller discs played at 33 rpm although they lacked the sound quality of a twelve-incher. It was the latter that proved particularly popular in the UK. This was in spite of the fact that many import twelve's were retailing at the same price as an album.

But I reckon that refers to the first Jkan 12 inch while Pat Kelly's was the first UK pressed discomixer.

Hmmm! ;-)
Not sure but mine was Chant Down Babylon Kingdom by Yabby U and Trinity with King Pharoah on the flip.
