Lee Perry & Wackies

Postby ragudave » Mon Apr 04, 2005 9:27 am

Did Lee Perry record a full albums worth of material for Wackies? I saw an LP at a fair yesterday that seems a joint Wackies / Canadian label whose name I forgot.

I never bought the album as I've been sting with bogus Perry recordings in the past...

I've got a copy of the dub version; can't say I ever play it, apart from one track which I actually really like

I really like "Message From Yard". A highly underrated album I believe.

I must add, however, one shouldn't expect that heavy roots Wackies sound on these Scratch LP's. Bullwackie had moved onto a more generic digital sound by this time (1987 ?). But I still like "Message From Yard" with ultra trippy songs like "Magic Dreams" and "One God In Space".

Both of those Scratch - Bullwackie albums are awful (Message From Yard and Satan Kicked The Bucket). For very serious fans only. Too bad Scratch didn't record with Bullwackie earlier to get that traditional Wackie's sound.
They have used guns to spoil the fun and force tasteless music upon the land. (Prince Buster)
