Just to put the info out there, "Right Time Rockers" is composed of sound-system specials cut by U Roy for King Attorney, later to be known as Socialist Roots. The rhythms are mostly from "Right Time" - not my favorite rhythms, but the dub mixes U Roy is chatting over are excellent. I think it's a solid set, not as good as his Treasure Isle stuff but worth listening to.

Also, this has been covered before, but I'll say it again:

Nu Roy IS NOT U Brown.

The voice is just different. U Brown has his charactaristic voice as early as his first single, Jamaican Tobacco / Wet Up Pants Foot, so it's not "early U Brown." Nu Roy has a distinctive, separate voice that appears on at least one single credited to his name as well as on that "Originator" LP.
What about the half that's never been told?

There's definately some misinformation out there about U-Brown then Fish, I recall only this week sometime reading something about him that gave his previous / other recording names, and it mentioned Nu Roy as one.

Just because it's on the Roots Archives doesn't make it true! Somebody probably ripped the album to mp3 and credited it to U Brown, then Buss downloaded it and just put it up on the site without checking too carefully himself. Roots Archives is a great site, but like all resources you can't take it completely on faith.

I didn't say it did , did I Fish ???!
And until I actually hear the 'two' artists I'll have to trust either your information (Which I'm inclined to as you seem particularly knowledgable on the Deejay thang) or information elsewhere. That's the thing with this music, you have to do all your own research, there's so much crappy information out there.

I wasn't for a moment doubting your information or word Fish, sorry if it seemed like I was to you..

Sorry, didn't mean you at all BMD, I was responding to Informer posting up the Roots Archives information . . . sorry to miscommunicate like that. When you hear the artists you'll see why there can be confusion, there are definately elements of Nuroy's delivery that are similar to U Brown . . . unfortunately, I don't really have "information" per se, only my own ears. Whether those are worth beileving is up to you ;-)
