I dunno. I think Heart of the Congos gets a little bit overrated/overhyped these days, no?
It's a great reggae LP, but the GREATEST of ALL TIME...?? C'mon....

B.Spear's first for S1..? Sure.
Bob Andy Songbook..? OK.
LSP and the Wailers..? No Problem.
Heptones @ S1..? I could happily live w/ that.
A Treasure Isle Comp..? Yeah.
Pablo's KTMTRU..? A bit leftfield perhaps, but maaaybe!

But Heart/Congos?

Those 6 titles above all represent major, MAJOR innovators in JA music who deserve more far more credit than the Congos....
They should be around 10-15th.
Too bad I didn't know about the poll when it mattered.

There's something special about that album. It's one of a kind -- nothing is even vaguely similar. It's eerie, haunting, and I play it more than any other JA album. It's not about how important or influential the artist is. It's about how much we **** love one album just a little more than all the rest.
