Curtis's Impressions in slackness shocker?

Postby Natty Rajah » Tue Jan 18, 2005 1:49 pm

Recently bought a "Best Of" the early years of The Impressions (having previously only had their Curtom stuff), and did a double take at "Woman's Got Soul"... bloody hell!

Written by Curtis himself as well... how did they get away with that level of slackness in the US in the 1960s?

In fact, it's so unexpected i'm not even sure that i heard it right... can someone please post up a transcript of the lyrics, if there is one, just so i can be sure it said what it sounded like it said? Not often that a 60s soul tune by a former gospel group has something analagous to a General Echo or Yellowman lyrics...

(and also, i'd like to know if there has ever been a comedy sketch in which someone sang "gay men, ga-a-ay men, gay men, gay men, gay men"... )
