One Heart / Alvin Reid

Postby Jackie Pablo » Mon Jan 17, 2005 2:12 pm

Here's hoping someone knows a thing or two about Alvin Reid, producer / owner ? of the label 'One Heart'

I can't trace any info on this man or the label except four 7" singles came out at the same time years back on re-release, 'Evil People' - Bob Clarke / 'Version' - Peter Tosh and one other single plus the two listed below.

(A) I'll Take Your Hand - Alton Ellis
(B) I'll Take Your Hand Version

(A) Orthodox Rock - I Roy
(B) Orthodox Drums - Bongo Herman

(both these singles sound like they are based on Alton's Studio 1 gem 'Almost Anything')

Apart from that there seems to be no other details.

Thanks for the info Mike.

I've double checked the matrix numbers and what you have down as FAR should be 7 AR. The number 7 has been mistaken for the letter f.

The full matrix numbers on the two I've got are

(A) I'll Take Your Hand - Alton Ellis = 7 AR 8015 A FRM
(B) I'll Take Your Hand Version = 7 AR 8015 B FRM

(A) Orthodox Rock - I Roy = 7 AR 7821 A FRM
(B) Orthodox Drums - Bongo Herman = 7 AR 7821 B FRM

I find it strange that there is nothing in print about Alvin Reid, especially as he was involved with artists the like Alton, P Tosh, Bongo Herman etc.

Are you sure about that Jackie? It may look like a 7 but I'd imagine it probably is an F.

The F= Federal where the record would have been pressed Dynamics always having Dyna and DSR (Dynamic Sound Recording).

i picked up that 'evil people' 7 a few months back, pretty unremarkable. don't know what tosh's connection to it is, maybe he played instrument on the flip side.

I know what mean Tim but I'm positive about the 7.

This is a 7 with a horizontal line through it to help distinguish it from a 1 (one). I've since been informed it's called a continental 7

Under a magnifier this is plan to see. Also the F in FRM is nothing like the 7 before the AR !
