Albert Malawi - Children of the Emperor
A must have, Heavy Roots tune, with an excellent Dub, .. The Vivian J Shaka re-pressing, the Calvin Cameron H Jons 12" (as usual X-tra attention to detail with that beautiful packaging) and the Bounty Killer and Luciano cuts out on Sleng Teng.
+ Currently taking my leisure with the P.Sounds Wailing Souls, 7s, 12s and Versions release which is cheaper at £9.99 on sale at D.Vendor.

BMC if you ever get hold of the vocal original of Universal Natty - Brent Dowe's 'Babylon Policy', please please please remember me, what a top tune,... that I-Roy chat is one of my favourites, and a prized seven.

Been making a Cornell Campbell comp this avo...what a voice!

and came across a lovely tune 'I Am Just A Country Boy' which has a beautiful chorus and searching for it on t'net I find out it's an old Don Williams song....

Don Williams
I Am Just A Country Boy

I ain't gonna marry in the fall,
Ain't gonna marry in the spring.
'Cos I'm in love with a pretty little girl,
Who wears a diamond ring.

And I'm just a country boy,
Money have I none.
But I've got silver in the stars,
And gold in the morning sun.
And gold in the morning sun.

I'm never gonna kiss the ruby red lips,
Of the prettiest girl in town.
I'm never gonna ask her if she'd marry me,
For I know she'd turn me down.

'Cos I'm just a country boy,
Money have I none.
But I've got silver in the stars,
And gold in the morning sun.
And gold in the morning sun.

I never could afford a store bought ring,
With a sparkling diamond stone.
All I could afford is a loving heart,
The only one I own.

'Cos I'm just a country boy,
Money have I none.
But I've got silver in the stars,
And gold in the morning sun.
Gold in the morning sun.

lovely sunday afternoon tune...

Can't beat Cornell Campbell; particularly like the stuff he's done on Rhythm and Sound. Whispering right inside your head.

Thanks for that info, Mike! I didn't know that was the original and, as you, really dig the I-Roy. Hopefully the Brent Dowe is available or will be available as repress soon (I don't have the illussion I'm gonna find an original any time soon )!

Hi BMC,

That information came to me from some kind and knowledgable soul here on this (well actually the old) message board.
