Have A Good Day - BMCs 12 inch selection volume I

Postby BMC » Wed Jan 12, 2005 11:30 pm

I always enjoy making compilations like this! Image I also enjoy seeing the tracklists here of comps others made and to get some feedback on the comps I made myself, so I thought once again let's post this one here as well. This time I made (partly on request; this is the result Doug ) a comp of some random roots / early dancehall 12 inch singles I have and really enjoy. It's A+B sides:

Have A Good Day - BMCs 12 inch selection volume I
-------------------------------------------------------------------
01 - Micron A - Leroy Sibbles & Nicodemus - Rock Steady Party (12 inch) 7:41
02 - Micron B - Radix - Rock Steady Dubbin' (12 inch) 4:16
03 - Joe Gibbs A - Pat Kelly & Ranking Trevor - It's A Good Day (12 inch) 7:12
04 - Joe Gibbs B - Joe Gibbs & The Professionals - Have A Good Day (12 inch) 3:45
05 - Garand A - George Faith - I Won't Let You - Rub A Dub (12 inch) 6:27
06 - Garand B - Clive Lloyd - Bubbling Stallion - Rub A Dub (12 inch) 7:38
07 - Book Of Psalms A - Jackie Parris & Big Youth - Really Together (12 inch) 6:42
08 - Book Of Psalms B - Jackie Parris & Big Youth - Let Him Try (12 inch) 7:04
09 - KG Imperial A - Sugar Minott - Mr DC (12 inch) 6:24
10 - KG Imperial B - Sugar Minott - Mr Fisher Man (12 inch) 5:25
11 - Solomonic A - Gregory Isaacs - Sunday Morning (12 inch) 5:00
12 - Solomonic B - Dennis Brown - Running Around (12 inch) 6:46

Total playing time: 74:25

I'm satisfied! I hope for my colleagues they enjoy it too, 'cause this one is gonna be played out loud at work the next few days! 8)

Yes Werner, as the title suggest, I had a good day.

(gotta admit though, that it was indeed not just random, otherwise possibly the 12" of Elephant Man's Jiggy would have ended up there and I don't think Doug would really appreciate that :D )

Shankle my nackle, scoobay - away

That's fast mate! Nice!

Do you like that Warfare tune? I do like Elephant Man quite a bit, but this song doesn't quite make it for me. It's not bad, but noting more than average either imo.

BMC. Did you see the spoof post on DHR about Buju Banton getting arrested for gay bashing Elephant Man. Funny stuff.

Yes tim, I read it. Hilarious. :D After reading the title and the first part I thought: oh no, not again, but then I reached the part where Buju recognizes Ele.

Not a bad tune...not quite as frenetic as some of the other tunes by him I've heard so listenable enough by my standards (and I'm no bashment fan as you may have gathered :) )

But in general the tunes on that Tenement Yard riddim are pretty ho hum, as I've said before though the Tony Rebel cut "Can't Fool Me" is the pick of the litter imo.
