top 5 scientist dubs

Postby RB » Mon May 05, 2014 10:31 pm

been thinking about this a lot recently. top 5 scientist mixes, overall, singles or LP cuts. so hard to do. i thought about this for ages. so many more to name...

1. flick wilson - two youths have a quarrell version (kulumi 7")
2. jennifer lara - jah will lead us home version (hit run 12")
3. frankie paul - worries in the dance version (hitbound 7")
4. clive matthews - live not for vanity version (fox fire 7")
5. barry brown - leggo jah jah children dub - dubplate (king tubby's 10" re) have my doubts about this one b/c it's sooo extreme but don't see who else could have done it

like the fact that "if jah should come now" or "words of parables" or "no one can tell i about jah" or no Junjo production is on here is so distressing... :(

That Jah Love dub is wicked. And like you say, far too many to mention. One off the top of my head that I have always enjoyed was the dub to Dave Robinson's Alligator Tears.

And RB, wanted to thank you for the recent Scientist dub album. Been on steady rotation since it arrived in the mail. Look forward to any future Jah Life dub albums you may have in the works too.

I grew up with Space Invaders & Curse Of Vampires, so those two hold a special place for me :)

Great thread

I have the JA 12", always play that, is it the same mix? Think I only otherwise have a Volcano reissue of it on 7" which might be different.

Could be right about that, going to have to have another listen this week.

Coupe of favourites off the top of my head:

African Girl Version - True Persuaders (Writers Of Rastafari 7")
Black Romeo Dub - Derrick Screechy (AL JR. 7")
Dub Fashion - Scientist (Greensleeves 12")

i would add the dubs to these Johnny Osbourne songs :

Johnny Osbourne - Never Stop Fighting
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viNjonDAMs0

Johnny Osbourne - Give A Little Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F4zpuRPwjc

Johnny Osbourne - Love is Universal

Also, any dub from "Scientist Wins The World Cup" and "Dub in The Roots Tradition".
